Week6 Idea generation - Part 1

Today lesson is about different methods of generating ideas. One interesting method is by wearing six thinking hats when generating ideas. What are the six kinds of hats?

White hat : Information & reports; lays the groundwork; not evaluation

Red hat : Intuition, opinion & emotion

Yellow hat : Praise, positive aspects, benefits and strong points of an idea

Black hat : Criticism, negative aspects; devil's advocate; anticipation of potential difficulties

Green hat : Alternatives, new approaches & 'everything goes'

Blue hat : "Big Picture", "Conductor hat", "Meta hat", "thinking about thinking", overall process; ensures rules of "six hats" are observed; summarizes and concludes discussion

What are the purpose of the "6 hats"?

  • focus and improve the thinking process
  • encourage creative, parallel and laternal thinking
  • improve communication
  • speed up decision making
  • avoid debate

Week5 Creativity Fundamentals - Part 2

Is a Sat morning, I have to wake up early to attend makeup lesson for Creativity n innovation module. I am so tired because Friday there is night class on this module. Luckily the lesson was not so boring, the class was asked to draw the side profile of a human face and a mirror reflection of the face so the pictures will look like a vase. This topic was took from a website: http://www.drawright.com/. Today lesson is more about how to use different part of your brain to think on different issue. We have to change our mental barriers to be creative. Eg. I am not creative, Only intelligent minds are good thinks. We have to change our habit barriers. Eg. how many buses need to carry 100ppls, walk from pt. A to pt. B. We have to change our attitude barriers. Eg. Negative, pessimitic thinking, fear of failure.

In life, we are to comfort with the kind of lifestyle we adapt and most of the time we are so relutanct to change. We just wait for someone to come out with better ideas to make our life even better. This really make us part of the non-creative creature on the Earth.

Week 4 Creativity Culture - Part 2

This evening, Dr Charles Lee invited a special guest; he is Dr Patrick Sim (The picture on the left). He is the head of the Sales & Marketing department of Orange Business services in AP. He has share on one of his most challenging project. He has 8 different network operators which Dr Patrick Sim describe them as 8 leopards which individual operators want their users to use back their own network when they are oversea. In this case, Dr Patrick Sim manage to provide a solutions to all 8 leopards and at the same time sell his own advertisments, which create a win-win situation in his business profile.

In life, we always tried to take advantage from others to create a win-win situation for ourselves but don't you think by helping others and you are able to gain benefits is a better way.

            1. Life is Difficult!

            2. __ doesn't care!

            3. Look for good!
